About this property

Welcome to The Mariners

Located at 4 Grove Place in Falmouth, The Mariners is a 4.6-rated inn offering a comfortable and straightforward stay in close proximity to notable local attractions. The property has received praise for its clean, well-maintained rooms, some of which offer pleasant marina views and cosy bay window seating areas. Guests appreciate the relaxed atmosphere, with friendly and attentive staff often highlighted, although some mention that service can lack consistency due to a young and inexperienced team.

Check-in is from 15:00 with check-out at 11:00. The inn provides beneficial amenities such as tea and coffee making facilities, luxury bath products, and a welcoming bar and garden area for relaxation. Breakfast receives particular commendation for quality and variety, offering creative dishes that go beyond the typical complimentary breakfast experience. Parking nearby is available, though limited and charged, so planning ahead is advised.

The Mariners is well-suited for visitors interested in sightseeing, with top nearby attractions including Pendennis Castle, the National Maritime Museum Cornwall, and Trebah Garden, all within easy reach. The location also caters to recreation and convenient local travel, supportive of guests wanting to explore Falmouth’s cultural and natural highlights. Accessibility may be a consideration, as the building lacks ramps and lifts, which might restrict options for those with mobility needs.

This inn appeals to travelers seeking a homely, straightforward base for their visit, particularly those receptive to a welcoming yet unpretentious environment. While some guest experiences note minor shortcomings in housekeeping and room servicing during stays, overall feedback leans positive, especially regarding the friendly hospitality and quality of food. Its affordability and proximity to local points of interest make it a practical choice for many visiting the area.

I am working in Falmouth and frequently dine here. The food is prepared, cooked and served to the highest of standards and I can thoroughly recommend eating here. John is a very good host as are all the other staff. Emma's cooking is of the very highest of standards and I have thoroughly enjoyed all the meals I have eaten their so far.

The room was emaculate with a power shower and luxury body wash/ shampoo conditioner, bed very soft but slept really well. Tea coffee making facilities and biscuits which is always a priority for me. The view from our room over looks the marine and a lovely window seating area to people watch from this room no 2. No parking but can park in car park opposit hotel for £1.70 from 5pm till 10am. Breakfast is amazing staff very friendly and helpful haven't eaten in hotel but menu looks very nice. Great seating area front and back were you can have a lovely relaxing drink

This is an affordable well-located option for Falmouth. Chris is very welcoming and there is a great breakfast and pool table available for use as well as a pub garden. That said, some essentials are lacking: rooms aren't cleaned during your stay, mugs and towels aren't refreshed, toilet paper runs out and is not replaced. The staff while friendly enough are very young and inexperienced, so the service is very lackadaisical.

I stayed here with my wife for a night. The first thing I would say is that if you're in a wheelchair this might not be the best option as no ramp outside or lift inside. The hotel is an older building. But that said it was a nice place to stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was big and clean. The bed was comfortable. There was a great selection of Tea's in the room. I would definitely stay here again. Unfortunately as we arrived late evening, they had stopped serving food so I can't comment on that, but the bar area seemed nice and cosy.

The Mariners still know what a personal touch is. From the moment that we arrived, untill the moment we left we felt like we were at a home, away from home. John and his staff are excellent people, really caring for your stay. The food was also wonderfull, we didnt skip a single breakfast! We got room 2, which had a great view on the Marina. From there you had the option to go anywhere in Falmouth, or somewhat futher with your car. Thank you John and staff for making our vacation as great as it was! The dog also had a great time and the staff made sure she also got some attention.

Falmouth Week visit. Did the Maritime Museum then went for lunch at The Mariners just a short walk from the museum. We were greeted with a smile and attended to by an extremely polite and engaging young bar man/waiter. As we waited for our order to arrive we observed an earlier group receive their meals. Amazed by their selection we waited with great expectation for ours to arrive and boy we were not disappointed. Each meal was delicious and more than decent size. I am a vegetarian and had enough options to choose from deciding on pastie and chips from their 2 meals for £14. I thoroughly enjoyed my pastie which was very well made and not the run of the meal processed soft cheese variety. Everyone, four adults and one child agreed that we had eaten well, it was great quality and the staff had been polite and engaging.

Our second stay over at The Mariners, and we loved it again. This time we were in Room 3 and it was lovely. The bed was comfortable, the ensuite was clean and the view from the bay window over Grove Place, the marina and out to the river was spectacular. John and the staff were attentive but not intrusive, and the food was delicious. Add to that the dog friendly atmosphere and how welcome Bilbo was made, it was spot on. Thank you John and team.

We were celebrating my daughter's 50 th birthday and three different family groups stayed overnight here. The rooms are very clean and are all en suite. It's an older building and the proprietors have certainly made the most of the set up. I would recommend it to others. The decor is pleasing to the eye, and the bed was really comfortable. It was pricier than most, I think, but we wanted for nothing.

We stayed in a room at The Mariners for one night and it was a lovely stay in a cozy room with a gorgeous view. The owners and staff are very friendly and attentive and you can tell they put a lot of effort into the place. There is also a complimentary breakfast that includes anything on the breakfast menu, including creative and delicious dishes such as the Eggs Cornish which I absolutely loved. Not your typical complimentary hotel breakfast and so worth it!
